West Country housebuilder appoints new Managing Director

November 15, 2021 | News

Award-winning West Country housebuilder Devonshire Homes has appointed a new Managing Director. Angus Cook has taken the reins at the firm, which is based in Tiverton and has been building homes across the South West since 1992.

With over 20 years’ experience in residential development, Angus, 45, joins from Bewley Homes where he was the Land and Planning Director. Angus has delivered a range of complex projects across the residential sector during his time with housebuilders including Barratt Homes, Taylor Woodrow, Charles Church and Berkeley Homes.

Angus’ appointment follows a strong performance for the company over the last 12 months, which has seen turnover increase to more than £39 million. At Devonshire Homes, Angus will build on this growth and be responsible for overseeing operations from land purchase through to customer service.

Attracted to the privately owned housebuilder by its aspirations for growth, its customer-first approach and its reputation for building homes which pay close attention to detail, Angus commented: “It’s an exciting period to join Devonshire Homes, as the funding, partnerships and appetite to expand are in place ready for the next step change.

“Whilst I have experience with a range of national housebuilders it’s the privately-owned builders where my passion truly lies. Devonshire Homes is a recognised and respected housebuilder in the region boasting a team which really cares about what they do and the communities they create.”

He continued: “One of my aims is to drive the land strategy to enable us to bring more quality housing to areas that need it in the West Country, by identifying key land opportunities and giving more people the opportunity to become homeowners. Land acquisition is fundamental to growth and as a privately owned housebuilder, with the ability for swift decision making with landowners, we really have the opportunity to expand throughout the South West.”

Angus has been in the housing and construction industry since 1998 and added: “What drew me to Devonshire Homes was its strong relationship with joint venture partners the Housing Growth Partnership and LiveWest, its long-term banking relationship with Lloyds and its revolving credit facility. Devonshire Homes is a leading housebuilder investing in the region with the tools and partnerships in place for significant growth and I look forward to being a part of that journey.”

Devonshire Homes’ Chairman, David Heathcoat Amory, commented: “Angus is a fantastic addition to our senior team. His strong focus on land, design, customer care and delivery performance will be instrumental in realising Devonshire Homes’ growth plans, and our ambition to build more quality homes in the South West.”

Independent housebuilder Devonshire Homes has been creating new homes and communities in towns and rural areas across Devon since 1992. The housebuilder specialises in providing homes which reflect the traditional characteristics and building styles of the region combined with high specification, contemporary interiors.
