Newly renovated, historic North Cornish Cottage and 14th century Farmhouse add to Whalesborough luxury farm resort’s choice of high-end holiday homes
Whalesborough luxury farm resort, set in 450 acres of farmland and countryside on the edge of the Atlantic coastline near Bude, North Cornwall, will be releasing two new luxury properties for bookings from July. The historic Whalesborough Cottage joins the resort’s selection of 21 five-star gold, pet-friendly cottages, alongside the newly renovated Whalesborough Farmhouse.
Taking luxury to a new level, the Grade2 listed, 14th century Whalesborough Farmhouse has been transformed into a standout four-bedroom property, with contemporary interiors by Beverley Bramwell of Thomas Bramwell Interiors. It features a fabulous family entertainment room with American pool table, bar, and cinema, and original flagstone flooring.
Making the most of its history, the farmhouse has a large downstairs sitting room with exposed beams and inglenook fireplace, and a gorgeous boot room leading onto the open-plan kitchen, dining area and conservatory. Sleeping up to eight guests, the house comes with two ensuites, and a large family bathroom.
Outside, the farmhouse has private parking, a large, enclosed garden with hot tub and stunning views across the former Whalesborough Estate, providing the perfect holiday home for parties, large families, and multi-generational escapes.
Lovingly renovated, the 17th Century Whalesborough Cottage, formerly a livestock barn attached to the main farmhouse, is a four-bedroom, pet-friendly property which also has interiors by Beverley Bramwell of Thomas Bramwell Interiors.
It features a large, open plan kitchen leading onto the lounge diner with two sofas, flatscreen TV and double bifold doors that give direct access to the garden. The cottage also has chill-out den with sofa, beanbags and a 55” TV, with doors that open onto the patio and hot tub area. Three of the cottage’s luxury bedrooms are upstairs, one of which is an ensuite with king-size bed, and the fourth is a downstairs master-bedroom with king-size bed and ensuite.
Outside, Whalesborough Cottage has private parking, its own private enclosed garden and stunning views down the valley across the former Whalesborough Estate. Booked together with Whalesborough Farmhouse, it provides the perfect venue for large gatherings of friends and families.
Available for bookings from July, a week in the summer at either property can be booked from £4,151. Off-peak week breaks start from £2,345. Short breaks are also available for three nights from £1,680. Visit https://www.whalesborough.co.uk or call 01288 361940 to make a booking.
Whalesborough Cottage and Whalesborough Farmhouse come with access to the farm resort’s enviable leisure facilities, which include a heated indoor pool with swim-in spa, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi, a well-equipped gym, an outdoor pool, tennis courts, and miles of walks through fields and woodland down to the nearby Water Cove Beach.
For those days that you don’t want to cook, you can order delicious pre-prepared meals for the fridge, or visit the on-site Weir Restaurant, which serves coffee and cakes, breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring dishes that celebrate produce raised on the surrounding land. Here, you can enjoy views over the tranquil lake, the winding River Neet, mature woodland, and the farm’s rolling countryside and pastures.
Pre-schoolers can look forward to Whalesborough’s Little Farmers club, which gives toddlers the chance to have fur and feather encounters with everything from pygmy goats and piglets to chicks and hens.
If wild swimming is your thing, Summerleaze Beach, which you can access along the Bude canal towpath from the farm resort, is home to a semi-natural tidal pool on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
And, if you choose to bring your four-legged friend, the enclosed garden, pet blankets and throws, dog showers, luxury pooch packs on arrival, and dog-sitting service all help to make this the perfect escape for every member of the extended family.
