Repurposing and reusing landfill sites – from rubbish to radishes!
The need to win the hearts and minds of a local community in support of an innovative new approach to the future of landfill sites threw an interesting challenge our way. The solution was brilliant, unique, and complex, but needed a simple way to communicate this to local residents, stakeholders, interested parties, and local Parish Councils.
The answer, supported by a suite of more traditional communications activities, was to script, storyboard, and develop an engaging animated explainer film for the Sustain ‘Super-Midden’ solution.
The outcome was a short film outlining how Crapper and Sons Landfill Ltd plans to transform its site into a super-food production centre capable of producing affordable fruit and vegetables for the local community year-round. Alongside providing low-cost heat, and energy, it’s a solution that will turn the landfill site into one of the world’s most climate-friendly methods of waste disposal.

Aiding expansion plans
2023 saw an exciting year of growth for our Westcountry housebuilder client, Devonshire Homes. With ambitious targets set for long term expansion, Absolute was tasked with generating creative, new ideas to raise the company profile with potential joint venture partners.
Our solution was to develop an instantly engaging explainer film, targeting landowners and land agents, explaining who Devonshire Homes are, how they work, and the benefits that come with choosing Devonshire Homes as a developer. Scripted by our team in-house, the film is on target for release in early 2024 and will form the main asset for a brand-new section of the Devonshire Homes website.
The film forms part of a suite of video-focused content, including short videos suitable for social media, that we’ve developed over the past year, driving both engagement and increases in homebuyer sales leads. This includes a short film scripted and storyboarded by our team to launch Mariner’s Haven in Ilfracombe; a milestone sustainable homes development for the business which marks a strategic step-change in the company’s five-year growth plans.
