How local sponsorship could benefit your business

June 9, 2017 | News

The much anticipated launch of the Moor Otters public arts initiative took place at Bovey Castle on Tuesday 23 May. Since December, selected artists have been bringing their individual designs to life. As the otters take up their summer residences at locations across Dartmoor, online bidding has begun for all 100 sculptures, with 30 ‘golden otters’ due to appear at a live auction hosted by Bearnes Hampton Littlewood on 30th September. The initiative hopes to raise £100,000 for the Dartmoor National Park Authority to conserve and enhance Dartmoor’s wildlife and landscape, and improve accessibility for everyone to the Moor.

In November 2016, Team Absolute joined the Moor Otters project as communications consultant, to raise awareness of the project. As a local business we are thrilled to be part of such an exciting campaign that is a great fit for Absolute PR & Marketing.

Our values

The aims of Moor Otters align neatly with our own values as a Devon based PR agency, and as individuals who value the county where we work and live. We’re lucky enough to have some of the UK’s most stunning and diverse scenery on our doorstep. Team Absolute are keen outdoors-people: swimming, cycling, riding, running and bowling our way through our weekends and we adore the spaces we’re able to use freely. We’re also a team of animal lovers and whether we’re training our binoculars on our resident kestrel family or spending time with our own animal friends, we’re never far from something furred or feathered.

So we were delighted to be offered the opportunity to work in partnership with Moor Otters to support the work of the Dartmoor National Park Authority. We’re great believers that team work and collaboration achieve more together than we can alone. Moor Otters has brought together 100 artists and numerous businesses across Devon to raise awareness of the importance of protecting Dartmoor wildlife, support the National Park in its vital work, provide an entertaining art trail and promote local businesses to Dartmoor visitors.

Our business

Partnerships and sponsorships are a great way to build genuine connections with prospective customers in a way that benefits both the sponsorship giver, and the recipient. As a proud sponsor of this project, we looked forward to raising awareness of our PR and marketing services among the business partners of the project. For any business, raising awareness of your brand and services is the most pressing challenge in reaching new clients.

Taking part in events such as the successful launch ceremony has given us new opportunities to meet other businesses from around the region. As PR experts, face to face networking is one of the most effective ways for us to make new connections as it allows us to get to know the people behind a brand. We’re able to learn about their business and understand the challenges they face. We’ve met some fascinating local business people through the Moor Otters project and built new relationships.

We would encourage businesses of every size to consider what they can give back to their local community through partnership and sponsorship. It’s good for business, it’s good for brand awareness, and it’s good for the soul.
