Cofton Holidays hits Visit England high
Multiple award-winning South Devon holiday park Cofton Holidays has hit the highs once again having achieved VisitEngland’s highest standard for quality, the prestigious 5-star holiday park rating. In so doing, it becomes the only holiday park in the Dawlish area to hold VisitEngland’s top quality mark.
Praised for its investment in facilities, excellent maintenance of grounds and the brand-new facilities block currently under construction, VisitEngland commended Cofton Holidays on its commitment to quality.
The accolade is the cherry on the cake for Cofton, which has swept the board with a series of awards over the past twelve months. These include the AA 5 Pennant Gold accreditation for Cofton’s outstanding camping offering and facilities, Gold in the Holiday Park of the Year category at the Visit Devon Awards 2018, and Gold at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2018/19, winning the title of best Holiday Park and Village of the Year.
Each year, VisitEngland’s Quality Assessors visit tourism and hospitality businesses across the country to gauge quality standards and ensure consistency across all businesses in the sector. Independently verified by the National Tourist Board, the VisitEngland 5-star rating is recognised as the gold standard for quality.
The inspection includes a thorough assessment of customer care, quality and cleanliness of facilities, standard of public areas, range of amenities and quality of grounds and landscaping.
Cofton achieved its five star rating with particular mention for:
- The cleanliness of facilities
- Impressive touring and camping pitches
- The great transformation of the reception area making a positive first impression
- Bright and modern eating areas
- Impressive indoor and outdoor pools
- Its popular fishing lakes
- Large dog exercise field with grounds kept neat and tidy by groundsmen

Cofton Holidays is set within 80 acres of parkland with miles of nature trails and cycle paths that take visitors through woodland to the golden sands of Dawlish Warren beach and nature reserve. Its facilities include a heated indoor pool with a splash pad area and hydrotherapy loungers, a gym, restaurant, pub, steam room, sauna, fitness studio, soft play area, playground, sports wall, outdoor pools, five coarse fishing lakes and much more.
Free kids’ clubs take place each day throughout the school holidays, from Easter through to the October half term. Other free activities on site include the new £50,000 Woodland Adventure Area which features a 25m zip line, a climbing cage, rope ladders, balance beam, balance lines and scramble nets.
