Calling all eggheads! Entries open for Barnstaple’s Really Big Quiz
Entries are now open for Barnstaple’s seventh annual Really Big Quiz, at which teams from around the town pit their wits against each other to discover Barnstaple’s brainiest business and raise money for the Mayor’s charities.
Chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards is once again hosting the event, which will take place on Wednesday 16th November at the Barnstaple Hotel. Having already raised over £16,800 for the Mayor of Barnstaple’s chosen charities over the past six years, this year the event will support Honey’s Bravery Bags, ChemoHero, Barnstaple Dementia Action Alliance and the specialist nurse in home project from North Devon Hospice.
Famed for its challenging question rounds and friendly but fierce competition, The Really Big Quiz last year attracted over 29 teams, with Simply Elgar proving victorious and claiming the winner’s champagne. This year is expected to be even more popular and, as usual, will include an auction and raffle for which some great prizes have already been secured. They include a beautiful hand crafted sideboard from Bideford interiors company Face Edge, an Amazon Fire tablet, a £100 holiday voucher and tickets for a tour of Dartington Crystal plus many more.
“We’d encourage teams to get their entries in as soon as possible, as spaces are filling up quickly,” said Jilly Watson, partner at Simpkins Edwards. “Whether you’re a burgeoning Egghead or don’t know your University Challenge from your Mastermind, it doesn’t matter! You’ll still have a fun evening out, a chance to win some great prizes and most importantly, help us raise thousands for some fantastic local charities.”
Local businesses and other teams of up to five members are invited to enter by visiting www.simpkinsedwards.co.uk/info/really-big-quiz where the entry donation of £50 per team may be paid online. Printed entry forms and cheques made payable to Simpkins Edwards LLP are also accepted. Included in the entry donation is a complimentary buffet and a paying bar will be available. Doors open at 7.00pm, ready for the quiz to begin at 7.30pm. All entry donations and proceeds from the raffle and auction go directly to the Mayor’s charities.
