Anenta wins prestigious international Healthcare Waste Management Company of the Year Award

March 3, 2025 | News

Leading independent healthcare waste management company Anenta is celebrating international success having won the Healthcare Waste Management Company of the Year title at the prestigious Healthcare Business Review Europe Awards 2025.

Recognised for its cutting-edge healthcare waste management platform and service, Anenta was singled out following an exhaustive evaluation process by an expert panel of C-level executives, industry thought leaders, and Healthcare Business Review Europe’s editorial board. In particular, Anenta was acknowledged for its work which has saved primary care clients over £13m in charges and has created efficiencies that have cut costs linked to client staff time by the equivalent of £35m.

These savings have been achieved thanks to the businesses’ proprietary Vector technology, which analysis hundreds of thousands of data points monthly to identify any instances of overcharging from waste collection and disposal partners. Heralded as a gamechanger for management teams within healthcare facilities, Vector is seen as setting a gold-standard for the sector. This is in no small part because waste services suppliers have come to value Anenta’s rigorous yet collaborative approach to improving operational efficiency, ensuring fair billing practices.

Combined with its technology-driven remote auditing, Anenta has helped NHS organisations, GP Practices, pharmacies, laboratories, dental practices and care homes streamline healthcare waste processes, enabling them to maintain compliance, reduce costs, and free up staff to focus on patient care rather than administrative burdens.

Critically, the award recognised Anenta’s ability to assist the NHS in unifying newly formed integrated care boards (ICBs) under a single service specification, contract terms, and environmental model.

This streamlined approach was highlighted by Healthcare Business Review as setting the bar for efficiency and collaboration in the healthcare waste management space, demonstrating Anenta’s expertise in navigating regulatory landscapes and delivering scaleable solutions.

Anenta was also recognised for its work with Health Education England and NHS England in the development of a standardised e-learning programme, which is available free to all its clients in NHS organisations, GP Practices, pharmacies, laboratories, dental practices and care homes.

These training modules equip users with the knowledge and skills needed to adhere to pre-acceptance waste audits, waste duty of care audits, and clinical waste management compliance.

Combined with its range of remote training and auditing services, Anenta has streamlined this process for clients down from days to hours, all while ensuring the highest level of compliance standards.

Alex D’Souza, Managing Editor of Healthcare Business Review Europe, commented: “We are glad to recognise Anenta as the Healthcare Waste Management Company of the Year in the UK 2025. Anenta has been making great strides in the waste management space.

“Their extensive experience and innovative solutions make them a frontrunner in this arena. Anenta‘s novel way of managing waste through their advanced platform is breaking new ground in the industry with a far-reaching impact.”

Graham Flynn, Managing Director of Anenta, commented: “We’re incredibly proud to have received this landmark award, most notably because it was based on nominations from key decision-makers within the healthcare industry.

“That really matters to us. It reflects the fact that we are not just seen as a service provider, but as a partner that is genuinely invested in our clients’ success, helping them to improve efficiency and cut costs. It’s a model that fosters trust and constant improvement where clients know that we will always prioritise problem-solving over bureaucracy.”

Anenta currently acts on behalf of over 9,000 GPs, and 9,000 Pharmacies in England. Handling more than 39,400 healthcare waste management queries a year, Anenta saves the NHS over £640,000 in NHS man hours alone each year.
