Salvation Army Trading Company Clothing Collection Scheme

The challenge
To raise and manage the profile of the UK’s largest clothing collection scheme among decision makers in local authorities, businesses, Government and superstores, as well with the general public to encourage them to donate their unwanted clothing.
Our solutions
We created the umbrella PR and marketing campaign ‘Wear2Bank’ and project managed the creation of a new website as well as other marketing collateral including literature, posters and adverts. Our press office managed a proactive media relations campaign focussing on national recycling and charity trade media, as well as national, regional and local consumer publications. We provided a targeted b2b e-communications campaign and support at major industry exhibitions, roadshows and presentations. We’ve also managed SATCoL’s communications process in crisis situations.
What we achieved
We consistently secured editorial coverage in key trade publications and regional news media throughout the UK. Salvation Army Trading Company was regularly approached for comment by editors and journalists writing pieces on the textile recycling industry and contributed to policy discussions at Government level. Traffic to the website we helped develop continually grew, Recycle With Michael – the schools scheme we helped to launch – is now in almost 500 schools and the Clothing Collection Scheme recently had its most successful year yet, collecting record amounts of textiles and raising more money than ever for The Salvation Army.
